About Michael

Michael Salvi built a career that threads courtroom work and local public service. He began academic study of law after earning a B.A. from Saint Mary s University of Minnesota in 1980. He received his J.D. from the University of Illinois - Chicago John Marshall Law School in 1984 and later added an LL.M. in Trial/Appellate Advocacy from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2016.

Early in his legal life he took on leadership roles. In 1984 he served as president of Salvi, Salvi & Wifler, P.C., a firm that carried his family name. Over the years he has maintained a steady presence in litigation circles and in local governance. He has worked in state and federal courts and remains active in legal associations.

His courtroom credentials include admission to the Illinois bar, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit. He completed postgraduate study in trial and appellate techniques, a move that broadened his practice beyond trial work. In 2023 he was listed as president of Salvi Law, Inc., the present banner for his practice.

Outside the courtroom he holds memberships in the State Bar of Illinois and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Lawyers for Public Justice and participates on the Lake County Bar Association’s Arbitration Committee. Locally, he serves on the Village of Hawthorn Woods Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, a civic role that keeps him connected to municipal matters.

Colleagues and clients see him as an experienced trial lawyer who also handles appeals. He represents clients in both state and federal proceedings and engages in arbitration through the county bar association. His postgraduate training in appellate advocacy informs how he approaches cases on appeal and in the trial court.

Today he practices under the name Salvi Law, Inc. in work that continues to combine courtroom litigation, appellate filings and community service. His current practice focuses on civil litigation and appellate matters.
