Michael Robert Weinstein is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1982. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Weinstein is of counsel at Ferris & Britton, a law firm located in San Diego, California. He has been practicing law for over 40 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. Weinstein earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1982, where he was an editor of the UCLA-Alaska Law Review. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at UCLA, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1979, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. During his time at UCLA, he developed a strong foundation in economics, which has informed his legal practice.
Mr. Weinstein concentrates his practice in the areas of litigation and business disputes. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving business-to-business and employment disputes, handling cases from pre-litigation through resolution by way of settlement, alternative dispute resolution, court trial, or jury trial. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Weinstein has handled cases in all California state courts as well as federal courts in the Southern, Central, and Eastern districts of California. He joined Ferris & Britton in September 1988 after practicing for six years with the Law Department of San Diego Gas & Electric Company. As of January 1, 2023, his status changed to "Of Counsel" as he began his transition to retirement, continuing to work on litigation matters and provide support to the Litigation Department team.
Mr. Weinstein is an active member of the State Bar of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has been recognized by San Diego Magazine as a Top Lawyer in both 2019 and 2020. He resides in San Diego with his wife, Dana, a retired attorney, and has three daughters and six grandchildren.
