About Michael Patrick
Michael Patrick Whelan earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2006, where he also studied public policy. He completed the program during a period of practical coursework and coursework-related policy study. That academic foundation framed the early years of his legal thinking and provided grounding in how law and public policy intersect.
After several years that included bar admission and early legal work, Whelan established his own practice. In 2011 he opened The Law Offices of Michael P. Whelan. He set up the office to provide direct legal services and to handle a range of client needs. Running a small firm required him to switch roles often: advisor, negotiator, file manager and advocate.
Whelan is commissioned as a notary public in the State of Oklahoma. That credential supports the administrative and document execution work the office handles. Over time he has managed the practical side of maintaining a solo practice, from client intake to court filings. The combination of a law degree in public policy and hands-on practice informs how he approaches legal problems.
Colleagues and clients describe his work as straightforward and no-nonsense. He tends to emphasize clear communication and practical solutions. He is experienced in the kinds of tasks common to small firm practice: counseling clients, preparing documents, negotiating settlements and appearing in court when necessary. He also handles transactional work and the routine formalities required for many legal matters.
Outside the office, Whelan’s background in public policy often comes up when discussing regulatory or administrative questions. He can parse technical language and explain options in plain terms. That skill helps clients who must make decisions under time pressure or when facing complex procedures.
Whelan maintains his practice in Oklahoma and continues to operate The Law Offices of Michael P. Whelan. He is a notary public in the State of Oklahoma and maintains a general practice, handling client counseling, transactional matters and litigation support.
