About Michael
Michael Ortiz combines military service, philosophical study and courtroom experience into a practical legal career. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps in 2006 before completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, Riverside in 2007, where he studied philosophy, ethics and legal theory. He went on to earn his J.D. in 2015 from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where his coursework emphasized intellectual property law and international contracts.
While at Arizona State, Ortiz took on hands-on legal training. He worked as a student lawyer in the Innovation Advancement Program in 2015, gaining experience on transactional and innovation-related matters. During 2014 he completed judicial externships at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. That same year he worked as a research and writing intern at Quarles & Brady LLP, where he assisted on memoranda and legal research projects.
After law school Ortiz joined The Turoci Firm as an associate in 2015. He spent those early post-graduate years translating classroom training into client work and courtroom preparation. In 2018 he established Ortiz Law and took on the role of managing lawyer. Since then he has overseen the firm’s operations while carrying a caseload that reflects his academic background in intellectual property and contractual matters.
Ortiz has maintained ties to the legal community beyond his practice. He serves as vice-president of the Hispanic Bar Association of the Inland Empire, a role that combines organizational duties with event planning and membership outreach. His service record and community involvement inform how he approaches firm management and professional networking.
Licensed to practice in California, Ortiz leads Ortiz Law from its office base and supervises both transactional and litigation work. His practice includes intellectual property matters, international contract issues and related civil litigation. He currently focuses his practice on intellectual property, international contracts and related civil litigation matters.
