About Michael O.

Michael O. Smith built a path from business school to the courthouse. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University and later graduated from Suffolk University Law School with a J.D. Those degrees shaped how he approaches cases; he brings both practical business sense and legal training to his work.

After law school he joined Mass Injury Group. He has spent his career at the firm, handling matters on behalf of people hurt in accidents and injured at work. Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and straightforward in court. He has worked on a steady stream of personal injury and workers’ compensation cases, often meeting clients shortly after an incident and staying with matters through settlement or trial.

Smith is admitted to practice in Massachusetts. He keeps current on changes in state law and procedure. That work includes active membership in several professional groups: the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Personal Injury Lawyer Network, and Injured Workers Law and Advocacy. Those memberships give him regular access to practice updates and peer discussions on litigation strategy and claims handling.

In the office he focuses on client intake, case investigation and litigation. He spends a lot of time reviewing medical records, consulting experts and crafting demands tailored to each client’s losses. He also manages litigation when a case cannot be resolved early. He understands that small details in reports or timelines can change how a case progresses, so he often takes a hands-on role in developing proof and preparing witnesses for deposition or trial.

Outside the office he participates in local professional events and continuing legal education programs. He speaks about procedural developments and tried cases when invited to meet with peers. The combination of business education and courtroom experience informs how he evaluates damages and expense claims, and how he guides clients through negotiations and hearings.

He is currently practicing at Mass Injury Group in Massachusetts, where he represents people injured in accidents and employees pursuing workers’ compensation claims.
