About Michael Leslie
Michael Leslie Walker studied politics and philosophy as an undergraduate and went on to law school before launching a practice in New York. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from the City University of New York’s Queens College in 2003. He later attended Albany Law School, where he prepared for courtroom work and counseling clients.
His early career included admissions to several state and federal bars. He is admitted in New York and Massachusetts, and he holds admissions to the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is also admitted to the 2nd and 7th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal and is authorized to appear before the Executive Office for Immigration Review at the Department of Justice.
In 2008 he became the managing member of The Law Offices of Michael L. Walker, Esq., PLLC. He has run the firm since then. The practice has handled matters that require appearances in both state and federal venues. He combines courtroom experience with client counseling in areas that cross civil, immigration, and transactional lines.
Walker has pursued professional credentials beyond the bar. He is a New York State licensed real estate broker. He is also a certified mediator in New York. Those certifications have informed his work on real estate transactions, settlement efforts, and alternative dispute resolution. They also give him an additional set of tools when cases can be resolved outside a courtroom.
He has maintained ties to the legal community through local bar associations. He holds current memberships in the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association and the Brooklyn Bar Association. Those connections have kept him involved in continuing legal education and local professional networks.
Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic. He tends to break complex problems into manageable steps. He prepares for hearings and counsel sessions methodically, and he pursues negotiated outcomes when they serve client interests. He also takes on litigation when circumstances require a contested approach.
He continues to operate his practice in New York, handling matters that span immigration proceedings, real estate issues, mediation, and federal and state litigation. His current practice focuses on immigration matters, real estate law, mediation services, and litigation across his admitted jurisdictions.
