About Michael J.
Michael J. Owen built his path to the law through a combination of regional schooling and steady practice. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Leo College and later a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University. Those academic stops set the foundation for a practice that spans state and federal courts.
Early in his career, Owen gravitated toward trial work and courtroom practice. He secured membership in the Florida Bar and later added admission to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He also joined professional organizations that keep him connected to legal developments: the Florida Bar Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Over time Owen moved into firm leadership. He is a founding partner of Owen & Dunivan, PLLC. As a founding partner he helped shape firm policies and case management approaches. Those responsibilities widened his day-to-day duties beyond client work to include supervising associates, reviewing filings and helping set litigation strategy for significant matters handled by the firm.
His courtroom experience informs how he prepares cases. He works through discovery, motions practice and trial preparation in both state and federal court settings. He is comfortable drafting pleadings, arguing motions and appearing at hearings. His practice involves direct representation of clients at every stage of litigation, from the initial complaint through dispositive motions and trial where necessary.
