About Michael J.
Michael J. Flynn built a foundation in liberal arts and law before returning to study theology later in life. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University in 1963. He earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 1969. Decades after beginning his legal career, he added a Master of Arts in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in 2009.
After graduating from law school in 1969, Flynn entered legal practice in Michigan. He has worked as a lawyer at McCroskey Law. His long association with the state’s legal community has coincided with membership in several professional organizations. Those affiliations include the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Bar Association, and the Muskegon County Bar Association.
Flynn’s decision to pursue graduate theological study in 2009 stands out in a career that began in the late 1960s. The M.A. broadened his perspective on ethics and human questions that often touch legal matters. He has combined those interests with the practical demands of client work. He maintained active connections to the Michigan State Bar Foundation as a fellow and has participated in the Michigan Association for Justice.
Colleagues describe Flynn as someone who came of age in a different era of the profession. He began practicing when legal communities were smaller and local ties often shaped a lawyer’s work. Over time, he adapted to changes in procedure, technology and practice patterns while keeping his base in Michigan. His memberships in both statewide and county bar organizations reflect a practice rooted in the state’s legal institutions.
At McCroskey Law, Flynn continues to work on matters that arise under Michigan law. He brings decades of experience in and around the courtroom and in client counseling. Outside the office, his bar affiliations have kept him involved in professional discussions and local bar activities. He remains an active member of the legal community in Michigan and presently focuses his practice on work arising under the laws of the state.
