About Michael

Michael Griffith graduated from Rutgers School of Law–Newark before beginning a career that has spanned both New Jersey and New York. He built his legal foundation in Newark’s law school classrooms and clinics, then moved into practice in the region. His education remains a touchstone in how he approaches cases and clients.

Early in his career he joined Mazie Slater Katz and Freeman, where he gained hands-on experience handling matters that crossed state lines. At the firm he worked on litigation and advisory matters that required attention to procedural detail and an eye for the practical consequences of legal rulings. Colleagues recall him as methodical in preparing written work and steady under pressure.

Admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, Griffith has litigated and counseled on matters across both jurisdictions. He has experience navigating the differences between state practice in New Jersey and the courts in New York, and he draws on that background when assessing strategy and timing. He also keeps active ties to professional organizations and maintains memberships in local bar groups, which he uses as a resource for professional development and peer consultation.

His courtroom work and transactional practice have required frequent coordination with experts, opposing counsel, and clients’ in-house teams. He approaches each matter by breaking it down into its component parts and building work plans that reflect deadlines and shifting priorities. That approach has carried him through trials, hearings, and settlement negotiations alike.

Outside of casework, Griffith has contributed to firm projects and internal training sessions. He has been involved in mentoring junior attorneys and in improving office processes that streamline case management. These efforts are meant to reduce surprises for clients and to give teams clear paths forward when matters become complicated.

Today he maintains an active practice in New Jersey and New York, continuing to advise and represent clients on litigation and counsel matters arising under state and federal law. His current practice focuses on litigation and counseling for clients operating in both jurisdictions.
