About Cory Jordan

Cory Jordan Rothbort earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 2013. He moved from the classroom into practice at a time when the legal market was shifting. The degree from a major law school provided a foundation in litigation and transactional subjects, and the timing placed him among a cohort of lawyers entering practice after the recession-era changes to the profession.

Early in his career Rothbort established himself across two state jurisdictions. He is licensed to practice in New Jersey and New York. That bi-state footing has shaped the kinds of matters he takes on and the procedural contexts he navigates. Working in both states requires attention to differing rules, calendars and client expectations.

Rothbort’s day-to-day work has included courtroom appearances, client counseling and case preparation. He has experience drafting pleadings, negotiating on behalf of clients and managing pretrial discovery. Those tasks form the backbone of much private practice, and he has applied them in matters arising under state law in both New Jersey and New York.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and practical in advising clients. He approaches each matter by breaking it into discrete steps. That approach helps when deadlines are tight and when multiple jurisdictions are involved. It also allows him to present clear options to clients and opposing counsel.

Outside of casework, Rothbort remains connected to the legal community through professional membership. He keeps current on rule changes and local practice updates that affect day-to-day litigation and transactional work. Continuing legal education and local bar activity are routine parts of staying effective in two state systems.

In recent years his practice has continued to focus on serving clients whose matters cross state lines. He balances appearances and filings in New Jersey and New York and handles the procedural work that supports those efforts. His current practice is centered on matters brought in New Jersey and New York.
