About Michael
Michael Grabhorn earned a B.S. in finance from the University of Louisville in 1991 and later attended the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, where he received his J.D. He also completed professional insurance credentials through the American College, earning both the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations. His academic background combines financial training and legal education.
He began his professional career in the insurance field, serving as a managing insurance consultant at Capital Resources Corp. in 1996. That role placed him on the insurer side of complex coverage and risk matters. In 2003 he shifted into private practice and founded Grabhorn Law | Insured Rights. He has led that firm as founding and managing lawyer since its establishment.
Grabhorn is admitted to practice in Kentucky and holds admissions across the federal appellate courts and the nation's highest bench. His listed jurisdictions include the U.S. Supreme Court and the First through Eleventh Circuits, allowing him to handle matters that arise in many federal venues. He maintains active involvement in the Kentucky legal community and beyond.
His professional credentials extend beyond the law degree. He holds the CLU and ChFC designations from the American College, credentials that reflect formal training in life insurance and financial planning. Those qualifications followed earlier work in the insurance industry and inform the way he evaluates complex policy and coverage issues.
Grabhorn is a member of several legal and professional organizations. He has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2000 and joined the Kentucky Bar Association and the Kentucky Justice Association in 2003. He became a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2020. He has also retained membership in the American College since 1996.
In practice he draws on both insurance-industry experience and courtroom training. He represents individual and corporate policyholders in disputes over coverage, claims handling and related litigation. His firm’s name signals an emphasis on insureds’ interests, and his past consulting work gives him perspective on how insurers evaluate and process claims.
He currently concentrates his practice on insurance disputes and representing policyholders.
