Upon admission to the Oregon State Bar in 1979, Mr. Hanlon embarked on his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General in the Oregon Antitrust Division. This pivotal role enabled him to engage in numerous antitrust cases across the nation, including significant multi-district litigation. One of his notable achievements during this time was representing world-class snowboarder Craig Kelly and Burton Snowboards in a landmark case against Sims Snowboards. Mr. Hanlon argued this case in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, successfully reversing an injunction that had been previously issued by the district court. This victory not only underscored his legal acumen but also highlighted his commitment to protecting the interests of his clients. In 1995, Mr.

Hanlon expanded his legal repertoire by gaining admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. Supreme Court.
