About Michael Ellis
Michael Ellis Freedman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1986. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Freedman is the founder and managing partner of Freedman Law Firm, a law firm located in San Francisco, California. He has been practicing law for over 40 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the broader California region.
Mr. Freedman earned his Juris Doctor degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1984. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Buffalo, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education in 1979. During his time at Temple University, he served as the Articles Editor for the Environmental Law Journal and participated in trial advocacy and competition.
Mr. Freedman concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, elder law, trusts, wills, estate litigation, trust litigation, trust administration, estate administration, and mediation. He represents individuals and families in matters involving the creation and management of trusts and estates, as well as disputes related to these areas. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Freedman has handled numerous cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at Green & Freedman from 1998 to 2003 and served as General Counsel for U.S. Nursing Corporation and Fastaff Inc.
Mr. Freedman is an active member of the State Bar of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco. He holds membership in the State Bar Trusts and Estates Section and the Bar Association of San Francisco's Probate Experience Panel and Estate Planning Trust and Probate Section. He is also a certified specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law through the California Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Freedman is fluent in English, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area effectively.
