About Michael
Michael Cirigliano built a career that moves from the prosecutor's table to a law firm partnership. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Iona College in 2004 and completed his J.D. at New York Law School in 2011. The academic path gave him a grounding in criminal law and procedure during a period of early practical training and courtroom exposure.
He began his legal career in 2011 as an Assistant District Lawyer in the Office of the Richmond County District Lawyer. That role placed him in the thick of criminal practice almost immediately. He handled case preparation, courtroom appearances and day-to-day prosecutorial responsibilities. The job offered sustained trial and courtroom work, and it shaped his understanding of how cases are built from investigation through disposition.
In 2015 he moved into private practice as a partner at Rosas & Cirigliano. The partnership marks the transition from public service to representing clients in the defense side of criminal matters. His professional trajectory reflects experience on both sides of the docket. That background informs his approach in hearings and negotiations, where familiarity with prosecutorial processes can be practical for clients.
Cirigliano is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey. He maintains memberships in the New York State Bar Association, the Richmond County Bar Association and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. These affiliations keep him engaged with developments in criminal practice and procedural law across the region.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation. He has spent years working through the kinds of factual and legal details that determine outcomes in criminal matters. The experience he gained as an assistant district lawyer continues to inform his courtroom strategies and assessment of case strengths and weaknesses.
Outside the courtroom, his practice involves client interviews, evidence review and motion practice. He is known for prioritizing clear explanations of legal options so clients can make informed choices. He regularly appears in arraignments, pretrial hearings and trials when cases proceed to that stage.
Today he is a partner at Rosas & Cirigliano. He represents clients in criminal matters across New York and New Jersey and draws on prosecutorial experience when advocating on their behalf. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense in both states.
