About Michael C.
Michael C. Giordano built a legal foundation in both law and finance before entering practice. He earned a B.A. from the City University of New York, Queens College, followed by an MBA in finance from St. John’s University School of Law. He later completed an S.J.D. at Brooklyn Law School, a research degree that shaped his approach to complex statutory and regulatory issues.
His early career moved quickly into private practice. In 1988 he became a partner at Mendes & Mount LLP. Years later he served in counsel roles at several large firms: Bryan Cave LLP in 2001, Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in 2002, and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP in 2003. Those roles placed him in established firm environments handling sophisticated client matters and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Over time Giordano concentrated his work on matters affecting older adults and their families. He joined the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys as a member in 2006 and has maintained that affiliation. Membership in that organization aligns with his practice interests and keeps him engaged with developments in estate planning, Medicaid planning, guardianship, and long-term care issues.
He is admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. That regional footprint has allowed him to work on cross-border problems that arise when clients own property or seek care in different states. He has handled matters that require attention to state-specific Medicaid rules, probate procedures and guardianship standards.
Giordano now works out of offices identified as NY Elder Law Office and Giordano Elder Law. His practice blends transactional work — such as drafting wills, trusts and powers of attorney — with counseling on public benefits eligibility and planning for long-term care. He also assists families through court proceedings when guardianships or conservatorships become necessary.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and practical in client meetings. He tends to break complex rules into clear steps for clients who are often coping with emotional and financial strain. He has balanced firm-side experience at large New York firms with the attorney-client work that comes in elder law practice.
As of 2026 he continues to serve clients through his elder law offices, focusing on estate planning, Medicaid planning and related elder law matters across New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
