About Michael C.
Michael C. Barrows built his legal foundation at the State University of New York at Binghamton, where he earned a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics & Law in 2000. He continued his studies at Brooklyn Law School and received his J.D. in 2003. Those years shaped an approach to law that combines attention to detail with an interest in how rules play out in practice.
He began his legal career in private practice as an associate at Blau & Barrows in 2004. That early work provided exposure to courtroom procedure and client counseling. After two years he left to start a solo practice in 2006 under his own name. The move to solo practice gave him the chance to manage cases end to end and to develop his own processes for case preparation.
In 2009 he became managing partner at Barrows & Tehrani, PLLC. That role added firm leadership to his responsibilities. In 2013 he launched two ventures: Barrows Law P.C., a law firm bearing his name, and EsqSocial Corporation, a separate business enterprise. Those steps expanded his involvement in both legal practice and the business side of legal services.
Barrows is admitted to practice in a range of federal and state courts. His admissions include the District Court for Washington, D.C.; the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit; and the State of New York. He maintains memberships in the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association. He also serves as a volunteer lawyer for the New York County Lawyers Association.
In 2020 he joined Barrows Levy PLLC as a partner. That position continues his pattern of alternating between independent practice and collaborative firm environments. He works on matters in both federal and state venues and has experience taking cases through various phases of litigation.
Peers and clients describe him as methodical in case preparation and hands-on in courtroom work. He balances the demands of managing firm matters with the practical needs of individual cases. He practices regularly in the courts to which he is admitted and remains active in bar organizations and pro bono activities. He currently practices as a partner at Barrows Levy PLLC, handling litigation and related matters in New York and federal courts.
