About Michael A.
Michael A. Rivkin began his legal path at Union College before earning his law degree from Boston College Law School. His time in school included the routine of classrooms and the particular pressures of skills clinics and moot court. Those experiences sharpened his legal research and writing, and gave him early exposure to litigation strategy and case preparation.
In 2015 Rivkin spent a summer as a judicial intern at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. There he observed federal practice at close range, assisted with memoranda and draft opinions, and learned how judges approach complex procedural questions. The internship provided him an inside view of courtroom schedules and the cadence of federal litigation.
Rivkin entered private practice soon after. In 2016 he joined Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott as an associate. His work there included research, drafting pleadings and supporting senior attorneys in case development. A year later he moved to Cohen Kinne Valicenti & Cook LLP as an associate. At Cohen Kinne he continued in associate-level roles, taking on client work and day-to-day litigation responsibilities.
He is licensed to practice in both New York and Massachusetts. That dual licensure has allowed him to handle matters that cross state lines and to collaborate with colleagues in different forums. Colleagues describe him as methodical in his approach to discovery and attentive to deadlines. His background in federal court work informs how he prepares filings and structures arguments.
Rivkin’s career so far follows a steady arc from law school through federal court exposure and into firm-based practice. He has built experience in legal writing, client counseling and litigation support. He is part of the associate ranks at Cohen Kinne Valicenti & Cook LLP, where he continues to take on assignments that require careful analysis and factual development. He currently practices as an associate at Cohen Kinne Valicenti & Cook LLP, handling matters across the firm's practice areas.
