About Michael A.

Michael A. Misa built a legal foundation over decades of study and courtroom work. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of South Florida in 1983. He then attended St. Thomas University School of Law and received his J.D. in 1992. During law school he spent a summer studying at Oxford in 1991, and after graduation he completed an Advanced Trial Advocacy program at the University of Florida in 1994.

His first post-law school position was with the Florida 6th Judicial Circuit, where he served as an Assistant State Lawyer in 1992. That early role put him in courtrooms and offered steady exposure to trial practice and the day-to-day demands of prosecutorial work. The experience shaped how he approaches litigation and evidence, and it gave him practical skills that he carried into private practice.

In 1995 he moved into private practice as an associate at Woodruff and Jeeves, PA. The following year he established his own firm, Michael A. Misa, PA, and has led the practice as president and owner since 1996. Over the years his work has involved both contested hearings and jury trials. He has handled matters that required courtroom preparation, witness examination and negotiation with opposing counsel.

Misa has maintained memberships in professional trial organizations for much of his career. He has been a member of the American Trial Lawyers since 1996 and joined the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers the same year. In 2013 he became a member of The National Trial Lawyers. These affiliations reflect a long-term engagement with trial advocacy and criminal defense circles rather than a single specialty.

Admitted to practice in Florida and to the U.S. Middle District of Florida, Misa has balanced litigation and client counseling in his private practice. His background includes time on the prosecutorial side and then decades representing clients in the private sector. He continues to handle courtroom work, where his trial training and early prosecutorial experience inform his approach. His current practice focuses on criminal defense and trial litigation.
