About Michael A.
Michael A. Dempsey earned his law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School after completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Pittsburgh. He came of age professionally in Pennsylvania courts, carrying an educational background that mixed regional roots with professional training in a law school known for practical programs.
He joined Lenahan & Dempsey P.C. as an attorney in 2010 and has worked there since. The firm has been the center of his practice life for more than a decade. Outside the office he also took up municipal service. In 2014 he was President Councilman for the Borough of Dunmore, a role that placed him at the intersection of local governance and the everyday concerns of his community.
Dempsey is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and holds admissions in two federal venues: the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials allow him to appear in state courts and to take select matters into federal forums. The U.S. Supreme Court admission is a credential some lawyers keep current for appellate work and for any issues that rise to the highest court, even if such cases are infrequent.
His professional affiliations read like a map of trial and bar organizations. He holds membership in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. Locally, he serves on the board of the Lackawanna Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, where younger lawyers exchange practice tips and coordinate programming.
Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer who blends courtroom admission with municipal experience. He has spent much of his career at a single firm, handling the kinds of filings and appearances that state and federal courts require. That steady presence gives him continuity in cases that move between county courthouses and federal dockets.
He currently practices at Lenahan & Dempsey P.C., handling matters in the Pennsylvania courts and in the federal courts where he is admitted.
