About Micalann Charlotte

Micalann Charlotte Pepe combines a background in finance and social studies with a legal education rooted at Arizona State University. She completed dual undergraduate degrees at Arizona State University in 2008—earning a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Women & Gender Studies—and went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2011. Those years of study gave her both technical training and an awareness of broader social issues.

After law school she entered practice in Arizona. She is admitted to the bar in Arizona and is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Those credentials allow her to handle matters at both the state trial level and on federal appeal.

Her undergraduate study in finance provides a foundation for understanding complex economic facts and business records. At the same time, her work in women and gender studies informed how she reads context and interpersonal dynamics in legal disputes. Peeling apart numbers and attending to human detail are both part of her approach to legal work.

Pepe’s career has been built on courtroom procedure, written advocacy and case analysis. She has experience preparing briefs and handling filings for appellate review and for trial courts in Arizona. She pays particular attention to the mechanics of appeals: deadlines, standards of review and record preservation. In trial matters she focuses on clear factual presentation and procedural precision.

Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparation and direct in courtroom explanation. She tends to allot time to careful document review and to crafting concise legal arguments. That methodical practice style supports work on appeals and in state litigation where record and argument must align.

Today she practices in Arizona and appears before the Ninth Circuit as needed. She handles matters in Arizona state courts and on appeal in the Ninth Circuit.
