About Micah
Micah Fincher earned his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2008. He entered the legal profession after completing law school and built his credentials in intellectual property law. His legal education occurred in Louisiana, where he later obtained admission to the state bar and federal courts.
Early in his career he pursued the credential that allows lawyers to represent inventors before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a registered patent lawyer with the USPTO. That registration is a technical qualification that permits him to prepare, file and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients.
Fincher holds admissions to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and in Louisiana. Those admissions give him the ability to handle appeals and federal matters that arise from district court litigation in the Fifth Circuit, as well as state-court matters in Louisiana. He combines those courtroom credentials with his registered status at the USPTO to serve clients across administrative and judicial forums.
Throughout his career he has worked on matters that touch both the administrative side of patent law and the litigation side of federal practice. He has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications. He also advises clients on patent strategy and procedural matters that follow when disputes reach federal courts or administrative bodies.
Colleagues describe him as precise in technical filings and deliberate in procedural steps. He approaches patent claims and prosecution with close attention to detail. In contested matters he draws on his knowledge of appellate procedure in the Fifth Circuit and the procedural rules that govern federal litigation in Louisiana.
At Jones Walker he practices alongside attorneys who handle corporate and litigation matters. His background in patent prosecution provides a technical complement to broader commercial work. Clients seeking to protect inventions or to resolve patent disputes can find both filing and court-oriented services under one roof.
He remains active on matters involving patents and related intellectual property issues. He is available to represent clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in federal and state courts where he is admitted. His current practice centers on patent prosecution and intellectual property matters at Jones Walker.
