About Megan Ferkel

Megan Ferkel Earhart combines a steady legal education with a string of practical roles in Southern California law firms. She earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2006, completed her J.D. at Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2010, and later added an LL.M. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2013. Those degrees set a clear course toward work in trusts and estates and related courtroom practice.

She began her legal career in Los Angeles shortly after law school. In 2010 she joined Goldfarb, Sturman & Averbach as an associate, gaining early exposure to client work and litigation support. Two years later she moved to Calleton, Merritt, De Francisco & Bannon, LLP, where she continued to broaden her practice. By 2015 she was at Hoffman Sabban & Watenmaker, taking on more substantive matters and developing experience that would carry into later roles. In 2018 she joined Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP as a lawyer, where she remains on the litigation and estate planning roster.

Earhart holds active admission in California and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She maintains membership in The State Bar of California. Since 2016 she has served on the Executive Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Trusts & Estates Section. That committee work has kept her engaged with local practitioners and informed about developments in fiduciary law and probate procedure.

Her practice emphasizes client counseling and the administration side of estate matters. She handles estate planning matters and the administration of trusts and estates, advising trustees and executors on their duties and on efficient settlement of estates. She also works on contested matters that arise in probate and trust administration. Clients encounter complex, sometimes personal disputes in these areas, and her work involves translating legal requirements into practical steps for nonlawyers.

Colleagues describe her as methodical in document preparation and attentive in court filings. She balances client-facing meetings with the drafting and negotiation that trust and estate work demands. The mix of transactional planning and contested proceedings has defined much of her career path.

She remains based in Los Angeles and active in local bar activities. Her caseload reflects ongoing work in estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. She currently represents individuals and families in estate planning, trust administration and related probate matters.
