About Megan C.
Megan C. Kelly came to law through a steady academic path. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Saint Benedict in 2006 and completed her J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 2012. Those years framed her interest in the kinds of disputes and decisions that shape people's lives and families.
She built her practice in Minnesota and rose to partnership at Northwoods Law Group, P.A. As a partner she handles case strategy, client counseling and courtroom work. Colleagues describe her as methodical; she favors careful planning over flash. Her position at the firm places her at the center of day-to-day litigation and the administrative demands that come with running a small practice.
Kelly has been active in the local bar community. She holds memberships in the Hennepin County Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association and Minnesota Women Lawyers. Her involvement extends into the guardianship and conservatorship community. She belongs to the Metropolitan Guardians and Conservators group and, since 2022, has served as Vice President of the Minnesota Association for Guardianship and Conservatorship (MAGiC). Those roles have kept her engaged with policy discussions and training for practitioners who handle sensitive fiduciary matters.
Her work often intersects with guardianship and conservatorship issues. Through MAGiC and related organizations she has helped organize educational programs and participated in panels that address the practical and ethical challenges that arise in guardianship proceedings. In practice she routinely addresses appointment hearings, bond requirements and reporting obligations. She also advises families and fiduciaries on estate-related decisions and the procedural steps needed to protect vulnerable adults.
Kelly balances casework with firm management responsibilities. That includes supervising associates, coordinating with courts and guardianship services, and managing client expectations through often-complex processes. She is known for taking the time to explain legal options in straightforward terms and for preparing documentation carefully so that it meets court standards.
Outside of court calendars and association meetings, she continues to follow developments in Minnesota guardianship law and probate procedure. Those developments inform how she advises clients and how the firm structures its representation. She currently practices at Northwoods Law Group, P.A., concentrating on guardianship, conservatorship, and related estate matters.
