About Max Lavit
Max Lavit Rosenberg trained in the humanities and law. He earned a B.A. in Theatre and Religion from Fordham University in 1997, then pursued graduate study in theology and religion, taking M.A. degrees at Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University in 2000. He later completed a J.D. at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2003, where he studied mediation and arbitration.
His first practical law experience included a summer associate position in 2002 at the Law Offices of Jeffrey Kimmel, followed by work as a mediator for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in New York in 2003. Those early roles paired fieldwork and dispute resolution, a pattern that reappears throughout his career.
Rosenberg joined Harmon, Linder and Rogowsky as an associate in 2004 and moved to Shepro and Blake, LLC as an associate in 2005. In 2007 he entered private practice partnerships, first as a partner at Thornberry and Rosenberg, LLC, and then as managing partner at Rosenberg & Hite, LLC. He has balanced private practice with public service. In 2019 he served on the Stratford Probate Court as a judge.
Outside the courtroom he has held roles that intersect law, governance and community organizations. He holds a Fair Housing Real Estate Trainer Certification from the Connecticut Fair Housing Center. His involvement in fraternal and civic groups includes leadership posts: Worshipful Master at America St. John’s #8 Freemasonry Lodge in 2013, Chaplain and Chief Corporate Counsel for Pyramid Shriners, and a leadership title at the Valley of Bridgeport Scottish Rite. He is also a member of A.F.& A.M. Lodge Hiram #18.
Rosenberg maintains professional bar memberships and local ties. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York. His association list includes the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association. Those memberships reflect an engagement with both statewide and national professional communities.
He divides his time between legal practice and organizational counsel at Rosenberg & Hite, LLC. He has combined roles as attorney, mediator, trainer and, for a period, probate judge. He currently practices from Rosenberg & Hite, LLC, handling probate-related matters, mediation and fair housing and corporate issues.
