About Mark
Mark Dumas trained at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2004. He entered law school after completing earlier studies and left Cardozo with a degree that launched a career in private practice. The law school connection has remained important to him; he now serves on the Executive Committee of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law Alumni Association.
He is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, and he is authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Those credentials have shaped where and how he practices. Early in his career he took on courtroom work in both state and federal settings and later added appellate practice to his portfolio.
Dumas built his practice through a small firm model and now works as a lawyer at The Dumas Law Office. The firm profile is compact. It suits the kind of hands-on litigation work he prefers. Over the years he has handled matters that required courtroom appearances, written submissions for appellate panels, and case management across multiple jurisdictions.
He maintains active memberships in professional organizations. He holds current memberships in the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. His role on the Cardozo alumni executive committee keeps him connected to legal education and to a network of former classmates and faculty. These ties inform his practice and his approach to professional development.
In day-to-day work he represents clients in state and federal courts in New York and Connecticut and appears in matters that reach the Second Circuit. He spends time preparing trial filings, briefing appeals, and managing discovery. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in court and meticulous on paper. Outside the courtroom he participates in bar activities and alumni events that center on litigation and appellate practice. His current practice concentrates on litigation and appellate work in New York and Connecticut.
