About Maurice
Maurice Giro studied at Thomas Edison State College, earning a B.A. in 2002. He went on to Rutgers School of Law–Camden and received his J.D. in 2005. Those years set the stage for a career that moves between public service and private practice.
He served in the United States Air Force in 1998. After law school he took a clerkship in 2005 with the Superior Court of New Jersey, gaining an early view of how judges evaluate evidence and legal argument. That experience informed his next steps as he moved into courtroom and client work.
Giro joined private practice and by 2008 was a partner at Christian, Giro & Tadros, L.L.P. The following year he opened Giro & Associates, LLC, taking on a broader client roster and managing day-to-day firm operations. In 2010 he stepped into a public role as a public defender in West New York Municipal Court, handling municipal matters and representing clients at the lower-court level. Each position added a layer of courtroom and client-facing experience.
He remains active in professional organizations related to elder law and the broader bar. He has been a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association since 2007. In 2014 he joined Elder Counsel and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, affiliations that reflect a sustained interest in legal issues affecting older adults and their families. He is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York.
Giro’s practice over the past decade has moved toward serving older clients and their families while continuing to draw on his municipal court experience and earlier clerkship work. He has run small firms and handled the administrative demands that come with them. Colleagues and clients see a practitioner who combines courtroom experience with the procedural knowledge gained from time in a state superior court and municipal defense work.
Today he practices from Giro Lawyers at Law LLP. His work addresses the legal needs of older adults and their families and reflects both his association memberships and his varied career path in public and private roles. His current practice focuses on elder law and related issues affecting older clients.
