About Matthew
Matthew Zenner grew up interested in politics and law. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona in 2011 and a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2014. The trajectory from undergraduate study to law school reflects a steady commitment to public issues and legal practice.
After law school, Zenner entered private practice. He joined Stewart, MacNichols, Harmell, Inc., P.S. as an associate in 2016. Colleagues describe him as methodical at intake and deliberate in court preparation. He has handled client interviews, legal research, brief drafting and participation in courtroom proceedings while at the firm.
Zenner has maintained professional ties outside the firm. He has been a member of the Washington Defender Association since 2016. That organization provides resources and networks for lawyers working in criminal defense and public defense systems. Since 2020 he has also held membership in the Washington State Veterans Bar Association, which offers a forum for attorneys who advise and represent veterans on a range of issues.
He is admitted to practice in Washington. That admission governs his courtroom appearances and filings. Within the firm, he has worked on matters that require knowledge of procedural rules, client counseling and negotiation. He has taken on assignments that range from drafting motions to supporting trial teams.
Peers note that Zenner balances research and practical courtroom work. He spends time preparing case strategy, but also invests in the routine tasks that keep cases moving.
