About Matthew Scott
Matthew Scott Seidner earned his law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1999. He entered the New York bar and began building a practice rooted in family and elder law issues. His education set the stage for a career that mixes courtroom work, counseling families, and participating in local legal institutions.
Seidner spent the early years of his career as an associate at Fitzpatrick Cella Harper & Scinto beginning in 2002. That role exposed him to complex litigation and the procedural demands of high-stakes matters. In 2006 he opened his own firm, the Law Offices of Seidner & Associates, PC, and has led that practice since. He also holds a Part 36 appointment on the New York State Court Guardianship Panel in Nassau County, a role he has held since 2012.
His practice covers matters that often intersect: matrimonial disputes, elder law, guardianship and related family court proceedings. He appears before Nassau Family Court and has been involved in the Law and Procedure Steering Committee for that court since 2012. He also serves on committees within the Nassau County Bar Association, including its Matrimonial Law Committee and Elder Law Section.
Beyond his casework, Seidner has engaged with continuing legal education. He has served on Lawline’s faculty since 2013, presenting on topics relevant to trial practice and family law procedure. He has been Lead Counsel Rated since 2013 and maintains membership in the National Academy of Elder Lawyers and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, among other organizations.
Seidner’s civic roles include local appointments in the Incorporated Village of Munsey Park. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals from 2009 to 2013 and as a village trustee in 2013. Those positions reflect an interest in local governance and community issues that overlap with property, family, and elder concerns.
His bar and association affiliations are broad. He belongs to the Nassau County Bar Association (since 2005), the Suffolk County and Queens County Bar Associations (since 2003), and the American Bar Association (since 2003). He remains active in professional networks and panels that address guardianship, elder law and matrimonial practice.
Seidner maintains an office in The Garden City Center Building and continues to handle matters in New York state courts. His current practice focuses on matrimonial matters, guardianship and elder law issues in the New York area.
