About Matthew Scott
Matthew Scott McKenzie is an attorney based in Oxford, Mississippi, specializing in family law, divorce, estate planning, and real estate law. He began his legal career in 2006 after graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. Shortly after graduation, McKenzie joined Tannehill & Carmean, PLLC in Oxford. There, he focused on various legal matters, including real estate, wills and estates, debt collection, and family law issues. In 2013, McKenzie was recognized as one of Super Lawyers' Rising Stars of the Mid South, a distinction that underscored his growing reputation within the legal community. His professional affiliations include membership in the Mississippi State Bar and the Lafayette County Bar Association, where he has served as President.
Additionally, he is an affiliate member of the North Mississippi Board of Realtors, which enhances his expertise in real estate transactions and related legal matters. McKenzie’s practice encompasses many legal areas. In family law, he handles cases involving adoption, child custody, child support, and prenuptial agreements. In his final year of law school, he clerked for Lafayette County Chancellor Edwin H. Roberts, Jr., which further developed his legal skills and provided insight into the judicial process. In 2016, McKenzie co-founded Harper Little & McKenzie, PLLC, continuing to serve clients in Oxford and the surrounding areas. His firm offers many legal services, including business and commercial law, real estate and title services, wills and probate, and foreclosure assistance.
McKenzie is married to Leah Chancellor, an Ole Miss graduate from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. They have three children: daughters Nora Gray and Murphey Deems, and son Chancellor Colle. The McKenzie family is actively involved in their community and are members of Grace Bible Church.
