About Matthew Richard
Matthew Richard Broering trained first as a student of economics and languages, then turned to law. He studied at Centre College where he earned a B.S. in 2017 in Economics & Finance and Spanish. He continued his education at Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University and received his J.D. in 2021. The transition from a liberal arts and business background to the practice of law informs how he approaches client matters.
Broering's early professional life included a role in the corporate world. In 2017 he worked as a Sales Incentive Analyst for General Electric. That position exposed him to commercial structures, incentive programs and the kinds of contractual details that later proved useful in legal work. The experience complemented his legal studies and provided practical context for business-related legal questions.
After law school, Broering moved into private practice. In 2023 he served as Of Counsel at Ruberg Law, PLLC. The position gave him experience advising clients and working alongside litigation and transactional teams. It also allowed him to build familiarity with the practice environment in Kentucky and to apply analytical skills developed earlier in his career.
He is admitted to practice in Kentucky. Broering's educational and early professional background yield a mix of business sensibility and legal training. He approaches problems by breaking them into their component parts and then addressing each on its own terms. Colleagues and clients see him as practical, methodical and ready to explain legal issues in straightforward language.
Broering now practices at Freedom Law. He maintains a practice based in Kentucky and draws on both his business experience and his legal training when advising clients. His career path — from Centre College through law school and into roles at General Electric and Ruberg Law — has shaped the kinds of matters he takes on and the manner in which he manages them.
He is based at Freedom Law and handles matters arising in Kentucky, representing clients and advising on issues that stem from his combined business and legal background.
