About Matthew P.
Matthew P. Prengaman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Redlands in 2005. He continued his studies at the University of Idaho College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2009. Those years on campus gave him a solid grounding in legal research and courtroom procedure. They also set the stage for a steady progression into private practice.
His first post-graduate role came immediately after law school. In 2009 he worked as an associate at Dvorak, Toppel & Barrido, LLC. The following year he joined Albukerk & Associates. Those early positions gave him hands-on experience handling client matters and working within small firm environments. He spent that time learning the practical side of litigation and client counseling under experienced practitioners.
In 2011 he opened his own practice in Illinois. The Law Office of Matthew Prengaman has served as his professional base since then. He has handled cases that required appearances in both state court and federal court. His admission includes the Illinois bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, which allows him to take on matters that move beyond the state level.
Prengaman maintains membership in the Illinois State Bar. He remains active in the legal community through that association and through the network he developed during his years in private firms and while running his own office. Clients and colleagues see him as a lawyer who prefers clear communication. He tends to present options directly and explain the practical consequences of different paths forward.
Today his practice operates out of his own office in Illinois. He handles a range of matters that arise in state and federal settings and pursues resolution through negotiation or litigation as circumstances require. His current practice focuses on representing individuals and businesses in matters arising under Illinois law and in federal court.
