About Matthew P.
Matthew P. Albanese built a legal education that spans political science, law and business. He earned a B.A. in political science and economics from Providence College in 1994. He then took a law degree at Suffolk University Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1999. He later returned to Suffolk to complete an MBA in international business in 2002.
He began his post-law school career working in private practice and by 2004 was an associate at Colucci, Colucci, Marcus & Flavin PC. That period gave him steady courtroom and client work and exposure to the kinds of contested matters that often touch families and older clients. In 2011 he left that role and opened Albanese Law LLC, where he established a practice that integrates litigation, probate and guardianship matters.
Albanese is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and also holds admissions to the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect work that includes appellate filings and representation across multiple levels of the federal and state system. He has also engaged with clinical and committee work through bar associations and local legal organizations.
Professional associations have been a steady part of his career. He has served in leadership at the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, including a term as Past President, and remains active in that community. He is a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Guardianship Association, and holds memberships in the Plymouth County and Norfolk County bar associations. Since 2019 he has participated on the Human Rights Committee of Grow Associates Inc.
Clients see him for matters that overlap elder law, probate and guardianship. He handles contested guardianships, estate administration disputes and related claims that arise when families and care providers disagree over care or assets. He also pursues appellate work when trial outcomes require further review in higher courts.
Colleagues describe him as deliberate in court and thorough in paperwork. He balances trial preparation with appellate considerations and places emphasis on clarity in filings and communications. He has carried that approach from his early years as an associate into the independent practice he leads today.
Albanese Law LLC, founded in 2011, operates as his main office and the principal vehicle for his current work. He continues to serve clients in elder law, guardianship and probate matters, and handles appeals when cases move beyond trial courts.
He concentrates his practice on elder law, guardianship, probate litigation and appellate matters.
