About Matthew
Matthew Michalski built a career that bridges the arts and the law. He studied music and audio production before turning to legal practice. The combination of creative training and courtroom work gives his approach an uncommon rhythm: steady, deliberate, and attentive to detail.
Michalski earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1996, followed by an Associate of Arts in Audio Production from the Art Institute of Seattle in 1998. He completed his legal studies at Seattle University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2008. Those varied academic pursuits preceded a move into public service and later private practice.
His first notable post-law school role was as an assistant municipal prosecutor at the Anchorage Municipal Prosecutor’s Office in 2009. In that position he prosecuted matters on behalf of the city, gaining courtroom time and experience in municipal procedures and local ordinances. The work required fast-paced case management and frequent appearances before municipal judges. Colleagues from that period recall his attention to factual detail and his willingness to shoulder the routine work that keeps a municipal calendar moving.
In 2013 Michalski launched his own practice, operating as Matthew Michalski, Lawyer at Law. Running a solo firm shifted his workload from a narrow prosecutorial docket to the broad obligations of private practice. He has handled client intake, case strategy, and the administrative responsibilities that come with operating a small law office. The transition reflects a common path for prosecutors who seek to apply courtroom experience in different settings.
Michalski is admitted to practice in Washington and Alaska and is authorized to appear in the U.S. District Court for Alaska. That admission profile enables him to take cases that originate in state tribunals and, when necessary, progress to the federal system in Alaska. Over the years he has balanced litigation duties with law office management and client counseling.
He remains based in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska regions and continues to operate his solo office. Today he maintains his practice through Matthew Michalski, Lawyer at Law, handling cases in state and federal courts in Alaska and Washington.
