About Matthew
Matthew Lenza built his legal foundation at St. John’s University. He earned a B.A. in political science and later returned to the law school, completing a J.D. with a concentration in constitutional law. Those classroom years shaped an interest in both public policy and private legal practice.
He began his legal career in private practice. In 2004 he worked at Amabile & Erman, P.C., taking on the day-to-day matters that young associates often manage. Three years later he moved into academia for a time, serving as an adjunct professor at St. John’s University in 2007. Teaching gave him a different perspective on the law and a chance to refine how he explains complex legal ideas.
In 2013 he opened his own firm, Lenza Law Office, PLLC, and has run it since. As managing lawyer and owner he handles the administrative side as well as client work. Running a small firm means shifting between courtroom preparation, client meetings and the steady business tasks that keep a law office functioning.
Lenza is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey. He maintains memberships in local and national groups. He has been a member of the Richmond County Bar Association since 2004. In 2018 he joined Lawyers of Distinction. For 2017–2018 he was listed by National Advocates as a Top 40 Estate Planning Lawyer, a recognition that points to one area of his practice.
Those affiliations reflect a mix of local roots and an interest in estate planning matters. His law school concentration in constitutional law is part of his academic background, but his practice has included estate planning among other civil matters. Colleagues describe him as practical and straightforward in client conversations. He tends to prioritize clear explanations over legal jargon so clients understand their options.
He divides his time between courtroom work, client counseling and running his firm’s operations. Cases vary in size and complexity. He represents individuals in planning and probate matters and handles related disputes when they arise. He also takes on transactional work that touches on estate and family financial matters.
Lenza Law Office, PLLC serves clients in New York and New Jersey. He continues to accept new matters and to handle ongoing files, concentrating his practice on estate planning, probate administration and related civil work.
