About Matthew G.

Matthew G. Grech built his legal foundation in two classrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from California State University, San Francisco State University in 2003. He went on to receive a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2007.

Fresh out of law school, Grech joined Kelly Litigation Group, Inc. as an associate in 2007. That early stint placed him in a firm environment that handled litigation and client representation, giving him practical courtroom exposure at the start of his career. The record shows that his professional path included both state and federal practice permissions; he is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In 2012 he became a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers. He has remained connected to that organization since then. Membership in that group signals an ongoing interest in the mechanics of consumer bankruptcy law, creditor-debtor relationships and related litigation.

Colleagues describe Grech as methodical in case preparation and attentive during client intake. He tends to approach matters step by step, breaking complex issues into manageable parts and focusing on practical next steps. Those are traits that often prove useful in bankruptcy cases where facts, timing and procedure intersect.

Grech’s work has involved appearances and filings at both the trial and appellate levels. Admission to the Ninth Circuit means he can handle appeals that arise from federal bankruptcy decisions in that region. He draws on his litigation experience from early in his career when assessing whether to pursue settlement, trial or appeal.

Outside of courtrooms and filings, Grech’s professional affiliations have kept him current on changes in bankruptcy practice and procedure. He maintains professional contacts through the association and through the networks formed during his time at Kelly Litigation Group, Inc.

He currently concentrates on consumer bankruptcy and federal court matters, including practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
