About Matthew
Matthew French is an attorney licensed in Massachusetts who built his legal foundation at two local institutions. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and went on to receive his J.D. from the Massachusetts School of Law. Those years shaped his approach to legal research and advocacy and connected him to the Bay State’s courts and communities.
After law school he joined the Massachusetts State Bar. He has held membership there since 2013 and remains active in the association. That early connection to the state bar preceded his entry into private practice, where he began to put classroom lessons to practical use on behalf of clients.
In 2019 he became an associate at Doucette & Associates, Ltd. In that role he took on the day-to-day responsibilities typical of a firm associate: preparing legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and meeting with clients. He contributes to case preparation and supports trial and negotiation work carried out by more senior attorneys at the firm. Colleagues describe him as deliberate and thorough in handling the documentation and procedural work that underpins litigation and transactional matters.
French’s professional experience has been concentrated in Massachusetts. He is admitted to practice in the state and conducts work across matters that arise under state law. His training at the Massachusetts School of Law exposed him to practical skills courses and courtroom procedures, while his undergraduate studies at UMass Amherst provided a liberal arts background for clear writing and analysis.
Clients and peers see his role as that of a reliable associate who prepares the legal groundwork firms need to advance cases. He moves between courtroom filings, client calls, and strategic memoranda. His calendar often reflects the predictability of firm life: research deadlines, court appearances, and client meetings that require steady organization and attention to detail.
He remains based at Doucette & Associates, Ltd., and practices in Massachusetts. He currently practices at Doucette & Associates, Ltd., where he handles legal matters arising under Massachusetts law.
