Matthew D. Roy began his academic path in Sacramento, earning a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Sacramento in 2002. He stayed in the region for law school and received his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2008. The timeline set the course for a practice centered in California and in the federal courts that sit within the state.
He joined the California bar in 2009 and moved into practical work immediately. Early in his career he served with the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Domestic Violence Project in 2009. That placement exposed him to high-volume family and criminal-related matters and to the practical demands of court work on urgent issues. A year later he established the Law Offices of Matthew D. Roy, opening a solo practice that he has maintained since 2010.
Roy holds memberships in several professional associations. He has belonged to the California State Bar and the American Bar Association since 2009. He is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association, dating from 2009, and he joined the Sacramento County Bar Association in 2010.
