About Matthew C.
Matthew C. Perushek took a conventional path into the law. He completed a B.A. at Hamline University in 2009 and earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2012. Those credentials set the stage for a year in a judicial chambers and then a quick transition into private practice.
Fresh out of law school in 2012, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael F. Devine. That experience gave him an early, close-up view of courtroom procedure and written opinion drafting. He joined Frei, Mims and Perushek, LLP as a lawyer in 2013, and has remained there since.
Perushek is licensed in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and he holds admission to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He has been a member of the Virginia State Bar since 2012. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in both state and federal forums across the region.
He has been active in local and statewide professional groups. He has served on the board of the Fairfax Bar Association since 2012 and maintains membership in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Those roles have kept him engaged with peers on issues of practice and local procedure.
At Frei, Mims and Perushek, LLP, Perushek has spent more than a decade representing clients from initial intake through litigation steps. His background includes the drafting and arguing of motions, preparation for trial, and work in federal and superior courts. Colleagues describe him as steady and precise in case preparation. He moved into private practice quickly after the clerkship, and the firm work has largely defined his professional life.
Outside court filings and hearings, Perushek contributes to the practice through bar association activity and regular participation in continuing legal education. He keeps a steady calendar of appearances in both Virginia and D.C. courts, reflecting the licenses he holds.
He currently practices from the offices of Frei, Mims and Perushek, LLP, representing clients in matters brought in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the federal district courts where he is admitted.
