About Matthew C.

Matthew C. Long began his professional path in Virginia higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mary Washington and went on to receive his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Those years shaped his legal foundation and introduced him to courtroom procedure, research and client counseling.

After law school, Long entered private practice in the Commonwealth. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and holds current membership in the Virginia State Bar. Early in his career he took on a range of tasks typical for new associates: researching legal issues, drafting pleadings and motions, and supporting trial preparation. Colleagues describe him as methodical in legal research and careful in written advocacy.

Long joined Moore & Lee as an associate. At the firm he works alongside partners and other associates on matters handled by the office. His day-to-day responsibilities include preparing filings, participating in client conferences, and assisting in courtroom proceedings when cases advance. He has experience managing discrete pieces of litigation work while coordinating with senior attorneys on strategy and case management.

Outside the firm’s files, Long has remained connected to the bar community in Virginia. He maintains his membership in the Virginia State Bar and keeps current on the rules and continuing education the association requires. He practices law from the firm’s Metro DC office and represents clients whose matters arise in Virginia. His current practice concentrates on serving clients in that jurisdiction from the Metro DC location.
