About Matt
Matt Swain built his legal foundation at Wake Forest University, where he earned a B.A. in sociology and political science in 2006. He continued his studies at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and received his J.D. in 2009. That combination of social science and law shaped an early interest in how legal systems affect people and communities.
Soon after law school, Swain took on a leadership role at Swain Law Group. Records indicate he became the firm's managing lawyer in 2009. He has handled matters in both state and federal settings, including appearances in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. Over the years he has maintained a workplace immersed in Oklahoma law and courtroom practice.
Swain is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and is authorized to appear in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. His courtroom work has involved state-level proceedings and federal filings. Those dual admissions allow him to move between local courts and federal dockets when a case requires it.
Professionally, Swain participates in several bar and specialty groups. He is a member of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and belongs to the Cleveland County Bar Association. He is also a current member of the Oklahoma State Bar. These affiliations keep him connected to peers and to developments in state criminal and civil practice.
Colleagues describe Swain as pragmatic in court and deliberate in preparation. He approaches a file by identifying the core legal questions, assembling the relevant facts, and mapping practical options for clients. He favors clear, direct argument over flourish, and he prepares witnesses and filings with an eye toward the decisionmakers in each case.
Outside the courtroom, Swain’s background in sociology and political science informs how he frames legal issues for juries and judges. He uses that perspective when assessing how evidence will be received and what narrative will best convey a client’s position. His workday can shift quickly between paperwork, client meetings, and courtroom appearances, depending on a case’s timetable.
He practices from Swain Law Group and remains active in local and state bar activities. His practice focuses on criminal defense and related matters in Oklahoma, including representation in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
