About Matt
Matt Parks came to the law after two degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned a B.A. in Government in 2009 and a J.D. in 2012. Those years in Austin shaped the start of a legal career that has been rooted in Texas public and private practice.
He spent the summer of 2011 as a summer associate at Enbridge Energy and served as a law clerk to the Texas Railroad Commission in 2010. Those early roles exposed him to regulatory environments and energy-related matters while he was still in law school. After earning his law degree he moved into private practice, holding associate roles at Stepp & Sullivan and Godwin Lewis PC in 2012. He then worked as an associate at Faubus Keller & Burford in 2014 and at Burford Perry LLP in 2015.
Parks has been active in the Houston legal community since the start of his professional life. He joined the state bar and local organizations in 2012 and maintains memberships in the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Those ties reflect steady involvement in the city’s legal networks and professional activities.
A pattern in Parks’s résumé is movement between regulatory work and firm-based litigation or counseling. His time at the Texas Railroad Commission and at Enbridge gave him direct exposure to regulatory processes. His subsequent firm positions allowed him to apply that background to client work in a variety of matters. He has handled tasks common to associates: research, brief writing, and participation in client-facing matters under partner supervision.
His office is listed in the Bank of America Center in Houston, which places him in the center of the city’s legal and corporate district. That location has been consistent with a career built around regional practice and local professional engagement.
Parks is admitted to practice in Texas and has built a career that blends private-firm experience with time in state regulatory offices. He currently practices law in Texas, handling matters that draw on both his firm experience and his regulatory background.
