About Masah S
Masah S SamForay earned her law degree from Indiana University School of Law–Bloomington, graduating J.D. in 2005 after completing a B.A. in psychology at Indiana University in 2002. She moved quickly from classroom to courthouse. The combination of a liberal arts background and legal training informs how she evaluates cases and counsels clients.
Her early work was in public service. In 2006 she served as an Assistant State's Lawyer in the Will County State's Lawyer's Office. That role exposed her to courtroom practice and the procedural demands of family and domestic relations litigation. She left public service for private practice in 2010, joining the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd., where she handled contested family law matters and related litigation.
SamForay helped found Lakeside Law Group, LLP in 2011. The next major step came in 2017 when she established The Foray Firm. Over the years she has taken on solo and small-firm leadership responsibilities and guided cases from initial filing through trial and post-judgment phases.
Outside the courtroom she has been active in bar organizations that concentrate on family law and the interests of African American lawyers. She serves on the Family Law Section Council of the National Bar Association and in 2018 held the vice chair position for the Racial and Ethnic Minorities and the Law Committee. She co-founded the Black Bar Association of Will County and has served as its president. Her work with the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago included a stint on the board of directors from 2017 to 2018 and several years as co-chair of its Small and Solo Firm Committee. From 2016 through 2018 she chaired the Family Law Committee of the Cook County Bar Association.
In 2017 she was appointed to the Governors State University Board of Trustees by then-Governor Bruce Rauner. That appointment put her in a role that intersects education policy and community engagement, and it expanded her public profile beyond legal practice.
SamForay’s practice centers on family law and the types of disputes that most commonly shape domestic relations dockets: divorce, parenting time, custody, support and related motions. She maintains an office in Orland Park, Illinois, and operates The Foray Firm Houston, PLLC, as part of her practice footprint. Her current practice focuses on representing individuals in family law matters and related proceedings.
