About Maryssa Jane
Maryssa Jane Simpson earned her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law after completing undergraduate studies at Baylor University. She left the classroom with credentials from two well-known Texas institutions and a grounding in the state's legal community. Her academic background provided the platform she would build on in private practice.
Her professional path led to The Potts Law Office, where she became a partner in 2018. That promotion marked a shift in responsibility and visibility inside the firm. As a partner she has taken on client work, supervised other lawyers and contributed to the firm’s internal operations. Her role also involves representing clients in proceedings that arise under Texas law.
Simpson maintains an active presence in local and federal legal circles. She holds memberships in the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and serves on the Texas Law School Dallas Young Alumni Steering Committee. Beginning in 2018 she joined the Northern District of Texas Bench Bar Committee and continues to serve on that committee. Those affiliations place her in regular contact with judges, court staff and fellow litigators.
Her practice is grounded in the procedural and substantive rules of Texas courts. Participation in the Northern District committee indicates regular engagement with federal-court procedures in that district. She handles matters for clients that progress through pretrial preparation and, when necessary, advocacy in court. Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and attentive at hearings and conferences.
Outside the courtroom she contributes time to the law school alumni committee in Dallas, a role that connects recent graduates to the local bar. That involvement has included event planning and mentoring newer lawyers as they begin their practices. In the bar associations she attends programs and committee meetings that address changes in local practice and court administration.
Maryssa Simpson balances casework with her responsibilities at the firm. She splits time between client representation, supervising associates and participating in the committees and associations that shape practice in Dallas and the Northern District of Texas. She is currently a partner at The Potts Law Office, where her practice focuses on representing clients in matters arising in Texas courts.
