About Mary T.

Mary T. Rogers earned a B.A. in sociology from Boston University in 1984 and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1987. Her academic training combined a social-science perspective with legal studies. That background shaped the early choices in her career and informed her courtroom approach.

She began her legal career as a law clerk to the justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court in 1987. Two years later she joined DiMento & Sullivan as an associate, where she handled a variety of civil and criminal matters. In 1992 she moved into public defense work, serving as a public defender with the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. The next year she opened a solo practice, establishing the Law Office of Mary T. Rogers in 1993.

Rogers is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Massachusetts bar and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that has included trial work and appellate filings. Her courtroom experience spans jury trials, motions practice and post-conviction matters. She has represented clients in cases ranging from misdemeanor matters to serious felony charges, drawing on the procedural knowledge and practical experience she developed as a public defender.

Outside the courtroom she has remained engaged with the criminal defense bar. She has held membership in the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2008 and in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2010. Those memberships have kept her connected to developments in criminal law, sentencing practice and defense strategy. Colleagues know her for steady preparation and for an insistence on following procedural safeguards in client representation.

For more than three decades Rogers has maintained a private practice in Massachusetts. Her office handles client intake, pretrial work, negotiated resolutions and appeals. She represents individuals at initial appearances, hearings and trials, and continues to appear in appellate proceedings when cases proceed beyond the trial court. She runs a solo practice that emphasizes direct client contact and courtroom advocacy.

As of 2026 Mary T. Rogers continues to practice at the Law Office of Mary T. Rogers, where she focuses on criminal defense and appellate work.
