About Mary
Mary Daughtrey built a legal path that began at two institutions known for producing practical lawyers. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of the Ozarks and earned her law degree from the William H. Bowen School of Law. Those years set the groundwork for a practice oriented around direct client work and courtroom procedure.
After law school, Daughtrey moved into private practice. Early in her career she handled a mix of client counseling and litigation. She learned to balance deadlines, client expectations, and the unpredictability of court schedules. The experience shaped a pragmatic approach to problem solving and a habit of clear, direct communication with clients.
Over time Daughtrey’s workload broadened. She has represented individuals and businesses in matters that required both negotiation and formal advocacy. Her courtroom time gave her an appreciation for preparation; negotiations taught her to look for workable outcomes rather than headline wins. Colleagues describe her as thorough and disciplined in how she prepares a case, and she has repeatedly emphasized the importance of explaining options to clients in plain language.
Daughtrey has also spent time mentoring younger lawyers and staff. In small-firm settings she has overseen case strategy, delegated discovery and drafting tasks, and reviewed filings. Those supervisory roles expanded her practice management skills and her day-to-day responsibilities beyond discrete client matters.
Her professional life has been local and hands-on. She prefers to keep client relationships close and to manage files personally when possible. That inclination affects how she handles intake, how quickly she returns calls, and how she sets expectations for each matter. The result is a practice style that is methodical and service-oriented without excess formality.
Today she practices at The Daughtrey Firm. The firm handles a variety of legal matters, and Daughtrey’s work continues to combine courtroom advocacy, negotiation and client counseling. She focuses on providing practical legal assistance to clients, helping them weigh options and make informed decisions about their cases.
She remains active in everyday practice, guiding clients through the procedural steps of litigation and the alternatives to it. Her current practice focuses on client representation across a range of civil matters at The Daughtrey Firm.
