About Mary
Mary Daugherty built a career that crosses state lines and legal specialties. She began her academic path at Florida State University, where she earned a B.S. in Environmental Studies in 2009, along the way taking minors in mathematics and physics. She then attended Saint Louis University School of Law and received her J.D. in 2012.
Her early legal work took place in Florida. In 2012 she joined Florida Rural Legal Services as a migrant farmworker intern and soon moved into a migrant farmworker lawyer role. By 2013 she served as a staff lawyer and took on the additional duties of pro bono coordinator. Those front-line positions exposed her to client work in underserved communities and to the practical demands of poverty-focused legal practice.
After several years in public interest law, Daugherty shifted into private practice. She was an associate at Izaguirre Law Office in 2016. A year later she opened Daugherty Law LLC and has operated the firm since 2017. The move coincided with an expansion of her bar memberships and professional ties beyond Florida.
Daugherty is admitted to practice in Florida and Colorado. She has held membership in the Florida Bar Association since 2012 and is listed in good standing. Her Colorado memberships date from 2017 and 2018, and include the American Immigration Lawyers Association Colorado Chapter, the Colorado Hispanic Business Council, the El Paso County Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association’s Family Law Section. She is also a member of the Black and Latino Leadership Coalition of Colorado Springs.
Her case work has included representation of migrant farmworkers and other clients with limited resources. The mix of public interest and private practice experience means she has handled both immigration-related matters and family law issues, among other areas, though her earlier years were heavily concentrated on farmworker advocacy.
Peers and clients describe her approach as practical and hands-on. She has moved between staff roles, boutique firm work, and leading her own office. That range has kept her familiar with court procedure in multiple jurisdictions and with the challenges that come from representing clients who face language or economic barriers.
Daugherty continues to run Daugherty Law LLC and maintains active bar memberships in Florida and Colorado. She practices through her firm, representing clients in the two states on immigration, family law, and migrant farmworker matters.
