Marty L Stoll earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Iowa in 1998 and continued at the same school for his law degree, receiving a J.D. in 2001. He joined the Iowa legal community at the start of the 2000s and maintains memberships in both the Iowa State Bar Association and the Linn County Bar Association.
He is admitted to practice in Iowa and before the Eighth Circuit. He is based in Cedar Rapids and has spent much of his career working on matters tied to property, land use and housing. Those threads run through his legal practice and his civic involvement.

He has been involved in matters that intersect with local government planning and with nonprofit housing providers. His courtroom work and appellate activity include practice in the Eighth Circuit.
Outside the office Stoll has taken on a string of volunteer and leadership roles connected to housing and community planning. He serves as chair and commissioner of the City of Cedar Rapids Affordable Housing Commission. He has been vice chair and director of the Affordable Housing Network, Inc. since 2012. Earlier, he held leadership positions on the Linn County Planning and Zoning Commission from 2010 to 2013 and served on the City of Cedar Rapids Planning Commission from 2008 to 2010.
His nonprofit affiliations reflect similar interests. He is a current director of The Meth-Wick Community, Inc. (since 2019) and Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services (since 2018). He has served as a director for Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Iowa, and he has been involved with the Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, including time on its executive committee. He also has an association with the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors and the Greater Cedar Rapids Area Housing & Building Association.
Stoll has participated in broader professional circles as well, including work with Bankruptcy Seminars, Inc., and membership in the Iowa Title Guaranty Fund. He has also contributed to municipal planning efforts such as the City of Cedar Rapids Long Term Planning Commission and the Zoning Update Steering Committee.
He continues to practice at Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C., focusing on real estate, title, land use and affordable housing matters.
