About Martin N.
Martin N. Preiser has spent decades practicing in Illinois courts. He earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Institute of Technology in 1974 and began building a career grounded in courtroom work soon after. Those early years shaped a practice centered on litigation and courtroom procedure.
Preiser entered the bar community in the mid-1970s. He has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association since 1975 and joined the Chicago Bar Association in 1977. The memberships reflect a steady engagement with the profession and its local institutions. He also holds admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is a member of that court’s Trial Bar.
His professional path has run through private practice. Preiser has served as a lawyer at the Law Offices of Goldberg & Goldberg. There he has worked on contested matters that require trial experience and courtroom advocacy. Colleagues describe him as someone who understands how procedural rules and evidence play out under pressure in trial settings.
Over time Preiser’s work has intersected with the organized bar. He joined the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association in 1995 and maintains that membership. Participation in bar groups has given him regular exposure to continuing legal education and to peers who practice in similar areas. He has remained active in these circles while continuing his practice at a small firm level.
Clients and other lawyers encounter him most often in courtrooms. His admissions to both the state bar and the Northern District federal court enable him to carry cases across jurisdictions. He is familiar with pretrial motion practice, jury trials and the particular expectations of the Northern District’s Trial Bar.
Outside the courtroom, Preiser’s long tenure in legal organizations reflects an interest in professional exchange rather than public leadership roles. He has neither claimed prominent elected posts nor published extensively in legal journals, yet his steady court work and association memberships mark a long public presence in the Illinois legal community.
He currently practices at the Law Offices of Goldberg & Goldberg, handling trial work in Illinois state courts and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
