About Martin A. Delaney

Martin A. Delaney III began his legal path after earning a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1979. He completed his undergraduate studies in history at the University of Rochester in 1976. Those credentials set the stage for a long career in private practice and courtroom work.

He entered practice soon after law school and became a partner at Davis & Delaney in 1979. That early partnership marked the start of more than four decades of consecutive legal work. In 1984 he joined Laloggia & Gorankoff, and two years later he opened the Law Office of Martin A. Delaney III. During the 1990s he worked in various law offices before forming a new iteration of his practice. In 2006 he took the title of partner at The Law Offices of Martin A. Delaney III, Ltd., the firm that today bears his name.

Delaney’s practice spans both state and federal courts. He is authorized to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and has appearances in several federal districts, including the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, the Western District of Virginia and the Western District of New York. He also holds bar credentials in Illinois, New York and Virginia, and has maintained active memberships in the Virginia State Bar Association since 1979 and the New York State Bar Association since 1985.

His professional affiliations reflect a steady engagement with regional bar organizations. He joined the Chicago Bar Association in 1994 and the Federalist Society in 1993. He holds memberships in the Illinois State Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association and the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, all listed as current. Those ties indicate continued participation in the legal communities where he practices and litigates.

Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who has worked in diverse office settings over many years. He moved between firms, opened his own office and later established a limited liability firm bearing his name. That trajectory shows a pattern of sustained private practice rather than shifts into public office or academia.

Today Martin A. Delaney III is a partner at The Law Offices of Martin A. Delaney III, Ltd. He handles matters in both federal and state courts across Illinois, Virginia and New York, including appellate and district-level proceedings.
