About Mark
Mark Yocum combined years in uniform with a late pivot to law. He earned a J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2023. Earlier, he attended the University of Wyoming and completed a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
His career began on patrol. Yocum worked as a police officer at the Wheatland Police Department in 2000. He moved into the sheriff’s ranks soon after, serving as a deputy with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 and later with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office in 2005. Those years in local law enforcement gave him front-line experience with investigations, arrests and courtroom procedures.
The shift from enforcement to advocacy came over time. Law school followed practical work in the field. He returned to the University of Wyoming College of Law and completed his degree in 2023. That academic training built on his prior public-safety roles and introduced him to civil and criminal procedure, evidence and trial practice from the other side of the docket.
After passing the bar, Yocum joined Olsen Legal Group, LLC as an associate in 2023. In that role he moved into courtroom work as counsel rather than officer. He represents clients through pleadings, discovery and hearings. His courtroom background as an officer and deputy informs how he approaches witness preparation and evidence issues.
Yocum is licensed in Wyoming and holds memberships in the Wyoming State Bar and the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, both current since 2023. Those affiliations place him among lawyers who regularly practice in Wyoming courts and who engage with continuing legal education and trial-focused professional networks.
He lives and practices in Wyoming and continues to draw on a mix of hands-on investigative work and recent legal training. At Olsen Legal Group, LLC he handles litigation and client representation in Wyoming state matters.
